The name Mount Olivet was chosen for the cemetery to honor the Mount of Olives where, according to biblical scripture, Jesus Christ ascended into Heaven. Its celebrated history includes impressive family memorials and noted interments of many famous Nashvillians, statesmen and soldiers. Today, the cemetery's peaceful, protected, park-like grounds provide a serene setting for its visitors.

Gateway to Eternity
The Egyptians believed the dark area of the night sky around which the stars appear to revolve was the physical gateway into the heavens. This suggests the pyramid may have been designed to serve as a means to magically launch the deceased pharaoh's soul directly into the abode of the gods. Do we as humans today believe that the pyramid is a gateway to Heaven...something to think on.
